Our generation is surrounded by so many old school people who think that the way they think is "realistic". When it comes to us choosing our majors they'll always have those questions asked:
- How much will you earn?
- Where will you work?
- What will you do ?
Now let's look at our country from a bigger perspective, most of the people -not all- do things they don't want to do and end up in positions they are not passionate about and then what happens?
Us, the citizens don't get our rights in a proper way. I believe that all those who didn't get the scholarships didn't get them because THERE ARENT ANY PASSIONATE PEOPLE IN THE MINISTRY. IF there were, they would have looked into the passions of the students more deeply. or at least we could submit a personal statement or maybe a paragraph about what we wanted!
Now, imagine Bahrain with passionate people who have positions in majors they love and always wanted to do. I would never say there will be absolutely no problems, there might be bad competition between people. BUT we will have more committed, innovative and ambitious people! This would create a bigger change none of us expect.
It's not just the majors, it's everything in life. Doing what you love to do increases the self confidence of the person and helps increase innovation.
Having trouble convincing people? Don't. Just do what you want if you think its right.
Sometimes, things happen the other way round unexpectedly. At some point in life we need to agree that god writes the best for everyone of us. But again, look back at the reason which changed everything.
Believe, believe, believe and believe in yourself and you will definitely succeed. That's a promise.
My name is Maryam Baslar and I'm doing and will keep doing things I always wanted to do and loved to do, will you?
